Residency: Bronx ZooIndy was born in the summer of 2004 at the Bronx Zoo. Her mother is Cleo, and she has two brothers, Duke and Phinneus and a half sister Katy. In October, Indy, along with Cleo, Phinneus, Smokey, and Adrienne, moved to the New York Aquarium when their pool in The Bronx was being renovated. Duke already arrived at the Aquarium that summer for future training.
At the Aquarium, the group resided in one of Sea Cliffs' exhibits, and was often called the "Bronx girls", despite the fact that Phinneus is a male. Because Sea Cliffs Exhibit features underwater viewing sections, Indy became very stimulated when she saw objects with bright colors. Therefore, animal enrichments were being done with creative toys. Phinneus, her little brother, though showed a little or no interest of the toys.
Indy continued to live with all the sea lions until mid 2006, when Smokey and Cleo were moved to another exhibit. Indy, Phinnues, and Adrienne are left in Sea Cliffs. More movings between exhibits happened throughout the year and Indy was finally settle with Phinneus. In May 2007, Indy, Cleo, and Adrienne returned to the renovated Astor Court, and were joined by a new male, Kiani, brought from the Georgia Aquarium. Smokey left for Buffalo Zoo and Phinneus stays at the Aquarium.
Identification: Indy is currently second to the smallest sea lion at the Bronx Zoo, after her newly born sister Katy.
